Customer Service Policy (Limited Warrantee)
What is Covered?
Tip Top Transmissions Inc. warrants its remanufactured transmissions and torque converters against faulty workmanship or material subject to the following categories:
- This warranty is not transferable. This warranty applies to the installing dealer and to the original owner of the vehicle in which the rebuilt transmission was installed.
- The warranty period begins when the transmission is purchased by the end user as reflected on the sales receipt and installation work order.
- Domestic passenger cars (with domestic model transmissions), 1h & 3/4 tons pick-ups and vans, including four wheel drives, overdrives and front wheel drives 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
- 1 ton pick-ups or vans 6 months or 6,000 miles whichever occurs first.
- Foreign cars and Pick-ups 6 months or 6,000 miles which ever occurs first. This includes domestic passenger cars with foreign model transmissions.
- Vehicles over 12,000 lbs. 6 months or 6,000 miles which ever occurs first.
- Motor homes 6 months or 6,000 miles which ever occurs first.
- The warranty is valid in the Continental United States only.
HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE
- IMPORTANT - Prior to any repair work being done on any warranted transmission, authorization must be received from Tip Top Transmissions Inc. Tip Top Transmissions Inc. will not pay claims that have not previously been authorized and this warranty is void.
- Return the vehicle to the installing dealer whenever possible and contact Tip Top Transmissions Inc. By calling 1-800-279-4616.
- If the transmission should become completely or partially unserviceable during the applicable time period and the vehicle in which it is installed is more than 100 miles from either our shop or the installing dealer you must contact Tip Top Transmissions Inc. by telephoning 1-800-279-4616. We will help you locate a participating shop.
- Tip Top Transmissions is a member of Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG) and issues their warranty in conjunction with and modified by its own warranty. Therefore, we offer Nationwide Coverage on our Warranty within the continental United States.
- Tip Top Transmissions Inc, reserves the right to determine whether to replace or repair its products. Tip Top Transmissions Inc. reserves the right to make the repairs themselves.
- Tip Top Transmissions Inc. reserves the right to have the claimed defective transmission and torque converter shipped to Tip Top Transmissions Inc. for inspection before taking any warranty action.
LABOR, FLUID AND SHIPPING REIMBURSEMENT
For the first 6 months or 6,000 miles whichever occurs first of the warranty period applied to any of our remanufactured transmissions, Tip Top Transmissions Inc. also offers to absorb the cost re-installation or repair according to the following:
- We will do the re-installation or repair at our own shop without charge. (See limitations)
- If a shop other than Tip Top Transmissions Inc. performs the re-installation or repair we will reimburse their shop labor rate not to exceed $30.00 per hour. This is based on Motors Labors Guide and Parts Manual.
- The re-installation warranty applies nationwide.
- The fluid costs will be paid by Tip Top Transmissions Inc. during the warranty period.
- Shipping costs will be paid by Tip Top Transmissions Inc. during the warranty period.
- Tip Top Transmissions Inc. will pay claims on transmissions that were originally installed at authorized, certified, licensed repair facilities only. No labor will be paid on do-it yourself installation, regardless.
- Labor claims are not paid until faulty transmission has been returned to Tip Top Transmissions Inc, and inspected.
- Labor claims will be paid only on units that are inspected by Tip Top Transmissions Inc. and determined to be defective from workmanship and or materials. Labor claims will not be paid on transmissions and torque converters that have failed due to improper installation, negligence, alteration, accident, vehicle problems, abuse or abnormal use outside the limits of normal vehicle use as defined by the owner's manual and warranty becomes void.
- No labor reimbursement on Torque Converters or parts sold separately.
- IMPORTANT - Prior to any repair work being done on any warranted transmission, authorization must be received from Tip Top Transmissions Inc. Tip Top Transmissions Inc. will not pay claims that have not previously been authorized and this warranty is void.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED?
This service policy does not cover and does not reimburse the following:
Rental Cars, tow bills, loss of earnings, loss of use, inconvenience or per diem expenses, unauthorized repairs, consequential damages, diagnostic time, linkage and speedometer gear changes, casualty loss, accident damage, act of nature, collateral or consequential damage, broken transmission cases and housing. Lodging (motel, hotel, RV space etc)
- LIMITATIONS
- Repairs or replacement transmissions during the service policy period do not extend the life of the service policy.
- This warranty will not be valid if the vehicle has been used for towing purposes unless:
- A proper transmission cooler has been installed on the vehicle and proper cooler flow has been verified.
- The actual vehicle and trailer weight has been documented and confirmed.
- This warranty will not be valid if the additional provided required parts have not been installed properly with transmission and torque converter such as coolers, in-line filter, flywheel spacer, heat shields, speed sensors etc.
Do It Yourself Installations
- Any claimed defective remanufactured Tip Top Transmissions or torque converter that is installed by anyone other than a certified, licensed repair facility will have to be sent to Tip Top Transmissions Inc. for inspection before taking any warranty action.
- Tip Top Transmissions Inc. will pay claims on transmissions that were original installed at authorized, certified, licensed repair facilities only. No labor will be paid on do-it-yourself installations, regardless.
Torque Converters and Parts sold separately (Warranty)
A 90-day part(s) only warranty is implied on Torque Converters and Parts sold separately. Any and all parts claimed defective must be returned prepaid freight for inspection with a written explanation of how they were installed and operated. Liability is limited strictly to the replacement of parts only and no claims for labor or consequential damages will be accepted. No liability will be accepted for misuse, negligence or abuse causing damage, defect, injury or loss. All returns must have prior company approval and authorization.
This service policy will be void under the following circumstances:
Failure to have a two week test drive and inspection by a recognized shop or Tip Top Transmissions
Damage to the transmission caused by but not limited to the following vehicle parts:
Broken or bent flywheel
Excessive crankshaft end play
External leaks
Broken transmission cases and housings
Defective vacuum lines, electrical components, transfer case input seal, computer controls, u-joints, motor or transmission mounts, electrical components, TV cable, cooling lines or cooling system.
Damage to the transmission caused by but not limited to the following vehicle problems.
Alteration to vehicle: lift kits, tires, that are larger than stock.
Electrical and wiring problems
Defective cooling lines or cooling system
Weights exceeding 12,000 lbs. (that includes a combined weight of the vehicle and the trailer, if towing).
Water or antifreeze in the transmission oil.
Additives or gear lube in the oil
Vacuum problems
Abuse or abnormal use outside the limits of normal vehicle use as defined by the owner's manual. (Snow plowing, over loading, drag racing, tractor pulling etc.)
One way clutch failure due to high RPM engagement or changing gears before the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Frame flex
Manual and throttle linkage problems.
Failure to verify vehicle computer.
Damage to the transmission caused by but not limited to the following installation errors by other than Tip Top Transmissions Inc.:
Failure to properly flush and flow check the transmission cooling system.
Failure to properly adjust manual or throttle linkage
Failure to properly adjust TV cable.
Failure to use new and correct fluid.
Failure to install the remanufactured Torque converter properly.
Failure to verify correct vacuum.
Failure to verify proper ground
Over tightening or cross threading of cooler line fittings, manual linkages or other external parts
External leaks: Filler tube, throttle cable, cooler line fittings, speedometer seals, transfer case input seals, etc.
Failure to verify vehicle electronics
Failure to replace transfer case input seals on all four-wheel drives.
The obligations assumed under this Customer Service Policy (limited warranty) are as specifically stated, and are in lieu of all other obligations, warranties or guaranties, expressed or implied.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and other rights that may that may vary in other states.
